Normal Map Generator
Generate normal maps and full PBR texture sets from a photo, a texture tile or a 3D model you made from a prompt. Free to start, exports to GLB, FBX and OBJ.
Opens in SupaVoxel. Free tier available, no install.
Why use this normal map generator
Full PBR set, not just the normal map
One pass produces the normal map together with diffuse, roughness and metallic maps, so the material drops straight into Blender, Unity, Unreal or Godot without extra baking.
Works from a photo, a tile or a generated model
Feed it a scanned surface, a seamless texture or a mesh generated from an image, and the normal map generator derives surface detail that matches the geometry.
3D text generator built in
Type a prompt to build a textured 3D model from a description, then generate normal maps for it in the same project. Useful for logos, signage and game props.
Roblox mesh and game engine export
Download as GLB, FBX or OBJ with textures packed, including an optimized Roblox mesh with a polygon budget that imports cleanly into Roblox Studio.
How to generate a normal map
- Upload or generate
Upload a texture image or photo, or type a prompt to create a 3D model from text. Both start from the same screen. - Pick the texture resolution
Choose 1K for previews or up to 4K PBR textures for hero assets. The normal map generator runs in the cloud, so there is nothing to install. - Download the maps or the whole model
Grab the normal, roughness and metallic maps as PNG, or export the textured mesh as GLB, FBX, OBJ or a Roblox-ready file.
Normal map generator questions
What does a normal map generator actually do?
It analyzes the shading and detail in an image or mesh and encodes surface direction into an RGB texture. Game engines use that map to fake bumps, grooves and edges without adding polygons.
Is this normal map generator free?
You can generate models and preview textures on the free tier. 4K PBR textures with normal, roughness and metallic maps are part of the paid plans, which start at a few dollars per month.
Can I get a normal map from a single photo?
Yes. A flat photo of brick, wood, fabric or metal is enough to produce a usable normal map. For best results use even lighting and a straight-on angle.
How does the 3D text generator work?
You describe what you want, for example a chrome logo with rounded edges, and the model generates a textured mesh from that text. You can then generate a normal map for it or export it directly.
Does the Roblox mesh export work in Roblox Studio?
Yes. The export keeps the triangle count within Roblox limits and packs the textures so the mesh imports through the asset manager without manual cleanup.
Which formats can I download?
Textures export as PNG. Models export as GLB, FBX, OBJ, USDZ and STL, with the PBR maps included where the format supports them.
